Day One
Board your seaplane in Derby and marvel at awe-inspiring scenery as you fly over the thousand islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Landing on the
water at the Horizontal Waterfalls in Talbot Bay, the Buccaneer Sea Safaris crew will be there to transfer you to Utopia. It is time to don a life jacket and take an exhilarating ride in the tender to Utopia through the raging waters of the Horizontal Waterfalls. We make our way to a maze of waterways called the Mini Gaps not far from the Horizontal Waterfalls. We enjoy a feast for lunch with ancient cliffs as our view. A short cruise takes us out of Talbot Bay, past one of the many Paspaley Pearl farms. Captain Darryl takes us to one of his secret fishing spots to catch some reef fish for tonights meal. We cruise past the old mine site at Koolan Island, into Yampi Sound and on to Monument Beach to make camp for the night. Enjoy drinks and nibblies around the fire while the crew prepares the catch of the day.Day Two:
After a delicious cooked breakfast, we break camp and make our way to Crocodile Creek where you can swim under an exquisite waterfall. There is a small shelter here that was erected by the Koolan Island miners. It now houses an array of memorabilia left by people who visit. A short cruise takes us to another secret fishing spot before we make our way to Silicone Beach on Hidden Island, named for its brilliant white silica sand. The water is crystal clear and very inviting for yet another refreshing swim. We cruise to Gibbings Island where we will make camp for the night. Watch the sun set over the islands with drinks and nibblies before dinner.
Day Three
Enjoy a continental breakfast this morning before we make our way to a coral reef. Slip on a pair of booties and go for a reef walk or go for a snorkel to discover the amazing marine life of the Archipelago. We cruise to Whirlpool Passage where the twisted hills have made a winding passage. The water churns its way through the passage, making whirlpools at the Northern entrance. We wind our way through to the Southern entrance, which opens up into Strickland Bay. A short cruise takes us to the Edeline Islands. There is a group of lonely graves here dated 1889. These are European pearl divers who lost their lives due to berry Berri and paralysis. We set the troll lines and cruise around the Graveyards before heading to the waterfall at the eastern end of Strickland Bay. Freshen-up under the waterfall before we make our way to Bower Bird Beach for tonights camp.Day Four
This morning we go in search of the large black-lipped oysters that encrust the intertidal zone in this area. We cruise south to Cone Bay and stop at a
place called XNXs, which is a freshwater spring that cascades its way down the hill into the blue waters of Cone Bay. There is a rainforest thicket here and it is very picturesque. We feast on oysters before leaving Cone Bay and making our way to Hells Gate, where the power of the tide churns the water though a narrow channel. Sit back and enjoy the cruise through Cascade Bay and the Inland Sea before heading down King Sound to Derby where we disembark at the Derby Jetty to be transferred to your travel connections or accommodation. Please note: This itinerary is designed to be a guide only. The order of activities may change during your sea safari. Whales can be seen from mid-July to October.
