DAY 1: Broome - one arm point
From the historic pearling settlement of Broome, a courtesy vehicle will pick you up at approximately 8.00am from your accommodation and transfer you to Broome Airport. From here you will board a light aircraft for a 45 minute scenic flight to One Arm Point, located on the Dampier Peninsula. Be greeted by your crew before being transferred to the Kimberley Quest II. Enjoy a leisurely morning tea as we cruise towards the spectacular surrounds of the thousand islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Later we stop at beautiful Silica beach for a walk on the pristine white sands followed by some pelagic fishing off the outer islands of Yampi Sound, tide permitting. Relax on the spacious sundeck or spa and soak up the last of the sun's rays before the sun sets over the western horizon. Tonight we anchor inside the beautiful Kingfisher islands.
DAY 2: montgomery reef, ruby falls, raft point
Today we cruise to one of the finest but least recognized Kimberley's icons, the amazing Montgomery Reef. Watch as the tide falls right before your eyes, creating a waterfall effect as the reef rises out of the water. Magical lagoons are created as the tide drops, which are rich in marine life, including dugongs, turtles, manta rays and many species of sea birds. Later in the day we cruise across Doubtful Bay to Ruby Falls, a picturesque freshwater swimming hole filled with water lilies and smooth water worn rocks to sit and take in the tranquil surrounds. In the late afternoon we visit magnificent Raft Point, a spectacular red sandstone bluff that is an important site for Aboriginal people. An impressive Wandjina art site lies here amongst a backdrop of Steep Island and surrounds.
DAY 3: doubtful bay, sale river
Enjoy an early mornings fishing before cruising across Doubtful Bay to explore the Sale River. One of the most sublime and beautiful estuaries, it winds its way through rugged narrow gorges with towering sandstone cliffs. Take a tender excursion upstream and disembark to walk amid an ancient patch of rich monsoonal rainforest glades. Admire the cool surroundings and take a dip in the spring fed rainforest pools. Journey back to the vessel to enjoy sumptuous cuisine prepared by our talented chef and relax on the sundeck as we continue on our quest. Cruise overnight to the stunning Talbot Bay.
DAY 4: talbot bay
Board one of the tenders and head in for an up-close and an exhilarating ride through the natural phenomenon that is the Horizontal Falls. The region's massive up to 10 metre tides create a spectacular scene, sending huge volumes of water pouring through a narrow chasm in the land formation. Also on offer is an excursion to the back of Cyclone Creek an area of spectacular geology consisting mainly of rugged sandstone that has been buckled & folded by major earth movements more than 1000 million years ago. We stop to explore Crocodile Creek where there is a pretty waterfall and a lovely freshwater swimming hole. Later try your hand at Kimberley fishing in one of our secret spots, or laze about the spacious sundeck or spa and take in the beautiful scenery.
DAY 5: one arm point-broome
After an early morning breakfast we head off in the tenders for a scenic excursion around the waters off One Arm Point and its myriad of surrounding islands. Departure from the Kimberley Quest II is around 9.30am for the return flight back to Broome where a courtesy vehicle will transfer you to your accommodation.
*These are only suggested itineraries. Due to the vast tidal movements and remote terrain of the Kimberley region, Kimberley Quest II cannot guarantee that the itinerary will remain the same. However, during the time you spend with us you will experience many more spectacular places not listed on the itinerary and there will be lots of opportunities to catch fresh fish for the table as well as land and sight seeing excursions to many untouched places.
